These are the best eBikes for hunting for 2023:
When eBikes first started to gain traction in the mid-2010s, they were mostly bought by people wanting to use them to commute or do urban exploration. Next came the mountain eBike (eMTB), for getting off road and doing some hill climbing and hill descent fun. It is from a combination of the two, with the carrying capacity of a commuter ebike, the versatility of a fat-tire ebike, and the all-terrain power of the eMTBs, that hunting eBikes were born relatively recently.
These are bikes designed to carry you, your provisions, your hide or screen, your weapon, your tent... basically anything and everything you need to spend a full weekend out in the wood hunting. They are mostly mid-drive and use torque sensors to give you the best response for sudden pitches and drops as you ride away from the beaten path. Some of them are even designed to be able to haul your kill back with you, at least as long as it isn't over a 150 lbs.
With how new the market is for these eBikes, there really aren't all that many out there when compared to commuters or MTBs, so we have narrowed down our picks to 6 for 2023 that we think are the best of the bunch. Of course, as with every list out there, these are our opinions only, and your own list may be wildly different.
About Our Selections
These selections considered range, motor power, and ease-of-use/quality-of-life features to determine which are the best hunting eBikes for 2023. Prices in this market tend to be higher than most other eBike markets as these are powerful, extremely capable off-road bikes that absolutely need to have the best of the best components and features, and all are IPX6 or better waterproof so you don't need to worry about getting rained on.

The Boar Hunter is a smart ebike. Aimed at hunters, and anyone else looking to spend time offroad and in the bush, the Hunter packs a lot of value into its $2,799 MSRP:

Bakcou Storm G2
If you're serious about using an eBike as your primary hunting transportation, the Storm deserves your attention
Why We Picked It:
Let's make it clear right from the start that the Bakcou Storm G2 is not a budget eBike. However, it is also one of the best selling bikes that hunters have given rave reviews about, so let's break down why.
Firstly, it uses Bafang's M620 Ultra torque-sensing mid-drive motor that pumps out 1,000W and 160 Nm of torque, connected to a standard 48V 840 Wh battery that can be switched out for range extending ones up to 1,200 Wh. You have an SRAM 9-speed derailleur, with the wheels being 26x4 inch fat tires by Maxxis.
Where the Storm gains hunter approval is its capability to haul 300 lbs, which is likely why it has oversized Tektro Heavy Duty E730 quad-piston disc brakes, measuring 203 mm both front and rear. You also have RST Renegade air suspension up front, and an Rockshox Monarch rear suspension. Fenders and a cargo rack come as standard.
It is a beast of a bike, weighing in at a hefty 70 lbs, but it's meant to be used hard, ridden through areas where there are no trails, and the need for reliability is paramount. Bakcou specialize in those types of eBikes, so it's no wonder that the Storm G2 is a best-seller.
Specifications:
Price: $5,599
Motor/Type: 1,000W Bafang M620 Ultra Mid-Drive Motor
Battery: 48V 840 Wh (17.5 Ah)
Torque: 160 Nm peak
Range: Up to 80+ miles
Weight: 70 lbs

Can haul 300 lbs of payload
Full suspension front and rear for the roughest terrain
Torque sensing Bafang Ultra mid-drive motor with 5 PAS levels driving a 9-speed derailleur
Designed specifically for off-road, off-track, off-path use, forging its own way through the landscape

Rambo Megatron X2WD
The most powerful eBike designed specifically for hunters
Why We Picked It:
The Rambo Megatron X2WD, besides being named after a Decepticon, has a party trick that will raise the eyebrows of anyone that rides it. The X2WD in the name means exactly what you think it does, as this is a 2 wheel drive eBike. Even better, it's selectable, meaning you can have front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or all wheel drive.
The motors here are Bafang 1,000W hub drive motors, each with 100 Nm of torque each. When in AWD drive mode, the motors combine to generate 2,400W and 190 Nm of torque, meaning you could ride up a 30 degree or steeper incline without breaking a sweat. You could also go down the same with the Tektro 4-piston 203 mm front disc brake and 180 mm rear disc brake.
To give those motors the best grip, the tires are 26x4.5 Maxxis fat tires, and the front fork uses GT MRK 355 Air suspension. Payload capacity is at 300 lbs, but with two motors and two 48V 1,632 Wh batteries, you also get at least 80 miles, and often over 100 miles, per charge to drag that payload around.
Of course, all of this tech and all of the features cost a pretty penny, so you're looking at a wallet draining $6,299.
Specifications:
Price: $6,299
Motor/Type: 2x 1,000W Bafang Hub Drive Motor
Battery: 2x 48V 1,632 Wh (34 Ah)
Torque: AWD 190 Nm peak
Range: Up to 80+ miles
Weight: 77 lbs
Strengths:
Can haul 300 lbs of payload
Dual hub drive to conquer the steepest hills, toughest terrain, and is switchable from front, rear, and all wheel drive modes
Full color Bafang LCD information screen, with thumb throttle on right handlebar, and drive select mode switch on the left handlebar.
Extra-wide 770mm handlebars for best stability and control

QuietKat Apex Pro
A hunting eBike designed to be as silent as possible so you don't spook the game away while hunting
Why We Picked It:
Most eBikes compromise on functionality to attract a wider audience. They may have the best motor or be torque sensing, but they give up total payload capacity to do so. Then there are companies like QuietKat, who have designed the Apex Pro solely, and only, for hunting. They have labelled it as a "hunting & hauling" machine, so let's see why.
Firstly, the mid-drive motor is torque sensing and provides 1,000W and a huge 160 Nm of torque. A 48V 828 Wh battery provides a range of 25 to 50 miles, which is shorter than most hunting bikes, but there is a reason for it. That reason is the Apex Pro's 325 lbs payload capacity, with the reinforced cargo rack itself able to handle a full 100 lbs. To support all that weight, the axles are extra thick at 12mm instead of the standard 8 or 10 mm.
As with almost all hunting bikes, you get long travel front suspension, with the Apex Pro getting a near-trail motorcycle level 140 mm from the KKE shocks. It also features Tektro hydraulic brakes and a 9-speed SRAM derailleur, which help the 26x4.5 Kenda Juggernaut tires propel or stop the bike.
One of the party pieces of the Apex Pro is that it has been certified to not only use a wall charger, but can also use mobile chargers and even solar chargers that have the appropriate connectors. The only downside to the Apex Pro is that it is nearly $6,600, but as it is a specific-purpose piece of kit, instead of being general-purpose, that is the premium attached to it.
Specifications:
Price: $6,599
Motor/Type: 1,000W Mid-Drive Motor
Battery: 48V 828 Wh (17.25 Ah)
Torque: 160 Nm peak
Range: Up to 50 miles
Weight: 70 lbs
Strengths:
Designed and built specifically for hunting use.
Variable power output mid-drive motor is almost completely silent to prevent spooking game
Can handle up to 325 lbs of payload, including 100 lbs on the cargo rack alone
Class 1, 2, & 3 are available with a mode select via the full color screen. There is also a walk-assist mode and an unlimited mode
Front suspension has 140mm of travel, so you can take on pretty much any terrain
Capable to be charged with mobile or solar chargers that have a compatible plug. QuietKat sells their own versions, but designed the system to be able to use a variety of third-party ones as well.

Rad Power RadRover 6 Plus
An eBike designed for the budget-oriented hunter
Why We Picked It:
Rad Power is one of those manufacturers you can always depend on to make something amazing and then put it on sale for an insanely low price. Well, a relatively low price in comparison to other bikes on this list! At $2,099, it does straddle the budget and mid-tier line, but it is almost always on sale for as low at $1,399.
Powered by a 750W, 80 Nm rear hub motor, the RadRover 6 Plus uses a 48V 672 Wh battery to give up to 45 miles of range. It can carry up to 275 lbs of payload, and has 5 PAS levels, a 7-speed derailleur, although to keep the price down, it is a cadence sensor, not a torque sensor. Like with many off-road and hunting eBikes, 26x4 fat tires are standard.
What makes the RadRover 6 Plus hunting worthy is that while it comes with fenders and lights as standard, there are a ton of accessories as well as packages you can buy. One of those packages, the All-Terrai Adventurer pack, is designed to carry a full set of gear in front and rear cargo baskets, as well as giving you an optional handlebar bag for just a little bit more carrying capacity.
This is a jack-of-some-trades bike that can be adapted to many uses, including serious off-road, off-trail use. We see this bike as the best recommendation to see if you want to use an eBike for hunting, because if you end up not choosing to, you'll still have an eBike that is a capable commuter and a fun weekend off-roader.
Specifications:
Price: $2,099
Motor/Type: 750W Rear Hub Drive Motor
Battery: 48V 672 Wh (14 Ah)
Torque: 80 Nm peak

For the hunter that is on a budget, or wants to try out a less expensive bike before putting the money in for a purpose-built hunting bike

Bakcou Mule
True to its namesake, it carries a lot and gets it done in fine style
Why We Picked It:
Bakcou themselves call it their ultimate "Git 'er dun" hunting bike, and it's pretty easy to see why. It is designed with accessories in mind, from a front and rear basket that can both handle over 60 lbs, to an eBike cargo trailer attachment point built in to the rear axle. It has a attachment points on the frame, even, to sling frame bags between your knees if needed.
It has the top-tier Bafang M620 Ultra mid-drive motor, but has a selectable power output mode as well, meaning you can select 750W for flat terrain or packed dirt trails and roads, or 1,000W for when you need to pathfind. Both modes give you 160 Nm of torque, more than enough to move its total payload capacity of 300 lbs.
The front fork has BCEB GT MRK 100mm air suspension, in addition to the seat having its own shock absorber so even over the roughest of bumps, you're not getting your spine shattered. The Mule also comes with a Shimano Alivio 9-speed derailleur, and powerful Tektro Heavy Duty hydraulic brakes, 203mm at the front, 180mm at the rear. Maxxis Minion 26x4 inch fat tires give excellent grip, and there is a thumb throttle if needed, although the 5 PAS levels should get you everywhere you want to go.
It should be noted that the Mule doesn't come with a front mud guard or headlight, although both are available as options. As well, there are a variety of batteries to choose from, with the standard being a 48V 840 Wh giving about 40 miles of range, to a 48V 1,200 Wh battery that can get you up to 70 miles.
Specifications:
Price: $4,799
Motor/Type: Selectable 750W/1,000W Bafang Mid-Drive Motor
Battery: 48V 840 Wh (17.5 Ah)

Weight: ~75 lbs
