A backpack gives you the confidence that the bag is still there and hasn’t fallen off, but it can be heavy, tiring and limit your movement.
It’s fine if you don’t have a lot in it, but when you do, this backpack easily converts to a sissy bar bag.
Just undo the clips on the shoulder straps and slip them inside the neat pocket at the back so they don’t flap around in the wind.
The nylon clips that normally fasten the straps then securely attach the bag to the bottom of your sissy bar while a wide velcro strap wraps around the sissy bar.
It takes seconds to fit it and take it off again, yet feels very secure.
When you arrive at work and remove it from the sissy bar, you can re-attach the shoulder straps to carry the bag, or you can use the convenient grab handle on top.
If you wear the backpack while riding, there is an additional chest strap to stop the bag from flopping around on your back.
This Viking backpack is very light indeed, weighing in at just 0.7kg, yet it feels tough and hasn’t worn with plenty of use.
We’ve used another Viking sissy bar bag for some time and it has proved long-wearing and resistant to fade. Read our review here.
This stylish black nylon bag comes with plenty of pockets and compartments plus a special padded compartment for a laptop or tablet. It will hold a total of 55 litres of stuff.
Plus there are two water bottle holders on either side of the bag for quick access.
It’s not waterproof, but seems reasonably weatherproof in light showers.
However, those normal zippers allow moisture to soak in during a heavy downpour.
It does not come with any night-time reflective material.
