The 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 is Ready for Anything
Contents
Suzuki’s top-of-the-line adventure model, the V-Strom 1050, is back for another year. Fundamentally this iteration is very similar to previous years except for two new upgrade packages – the 1050DE and the 1050DE Adventure, which replace the XT models from last year. The V-Strom line is well known for its extreme versatility, and this very well may be the most versatile model yet.
The 2023 V-Strom 1050 retains its 1037cc V-twin heart, which makes 106hp and 74 lb-ft of torque. Suzuki says this engine platform has been engineered for linear torque in the mid-rpm range and max power in the high-rpm range. An interesting feature of this powerplant is that its the first Suzuki to have hollow sodium-filled exhaust valves. This serves to help reduce temperature in the combustion chamber. While the bike is largely the same as previous years, it does have a few new features for the 2023 model year, including a bi-directional quick shifter, a new 5” LCD gauge screen, and a revised cruise control system.
The 2023 V-Strom 1050 comes standard with some extremely handy tech that has been inherited from throughout the excellent 2023 Suzuki Lineup, including the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System. This system is designed to make life with the V-Strom 1050 easier and includes features like cruise control, ABS, and a load-dependent control system, which calculates and executes optimal braking according to the load onboard the bike.
The 2023 V-Strom 1050 can be purchased in one of three packages – the basic model, which Suzuki claims is focused on comfortable touring riding, the DE package, which is geared more at exploring gravel roads and country trails, and the DE Adventure, which is the Japanese manufacturer’s ultimate adventure bike. The DE upgrade package includes a longer wheelbase, longer suspension stroke, wider handlebars, and an aluminum engine protector, among other offroad upgrades and goodies. The DE Adventure gets everything the DE has and also adds a set of aluminum side cases.
There are truly too many features packed into this line of bikes to list here, and needless to say, this bike is an insanely capable machine no matter what type of adventure rider you are.
The 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 starts at $15,199 USD / $17,899 CAD.
