The 2022 Zero FXS Is the Entry Level Supermoto in the Company’s Electric Lineup
Contents
Supermotos have been the natural choice for someone looking to hoon around town, with their tall seat, wide handlebars, and upright riding position. The 2022 Zero FXS offers precisely that in a beginner-friendly, compact package that’s just as comfortable while commuting as it is for popping wheelies.
The Zero FXS is one of the most affordable models in the 2022 Zero Motorcycle lineup, which is evident in what it offers. The EV is powered by the Z-Force 75-5 motor, which is also seen on multiple other models in the Zero Motorcycle portfolio; however, on the FXS, it makes less power with 27hp. Peak torque is a healthy 78lb-ft, enough to propel the bike to a top speed of 85mph.
For 2022, the FXS is available only with the ZF3.6 battery pack (3.6 kWh), so this won’t be the model that will help you participate in any form of long-distance riding. Range figures are a respectable 50 miles in the city but just 20 miles on the highway if you maintain about 70mph. If you have another motorcycle to cruise the highways on, the Zero FXS is perfect if you’re looking to spice up your commute.
On the plus side, the battery pack on the Zero FXS is a modular unit, so you can simply drop in another fully charged battery when you run out of juice. A full charge takes 5.1 hours, and you can bring that number down to 106 hours if you use the additional accessory chargers.
The American company hasn’t skimped on the hardware the FXS offers, with fully adjustable Showa suspension, Bosch Gen 9 ABS, and braking hardware from J.Juan — just like on the notably more expensive Zero models.
The 2022 Zero FXS starts at $9,795 USD / $12,595 CAD.
