2022 Ducati Monster 1200 / 1200S: Italian Monstrosity
Contents
Monsters come in all shapes and sizes, and often hide in the shadows… What could be more terrifying than a blacked-out 1200cc Monster lurking down your city streets? Probably nothing.
The Big Bore monster is back for 2022 and holds true to the Monster name as physically possible. Although the liter naked bike market segment is a little bit crowded at the moment (the Monster 1200 has to compete with Ducati’s own Streetfighter V4 in their 2022 lineup), it is still the perfect bike for people that want to enjoy the legendary history of the Monster with a little bit more power than what you would come to expect from the standard 900cc version.
Featuring Ducati’s beloved exposed trellis frame, this Italian-made bike packs a punch with its 1,198cc V-twin engine capable of laying out a grunty 147 horsepower and 91 lb-ft of torque. These power figures paired with the short wheelbase and flick-able agility provided by the monster’s recent updates allow for a very capable motorcycle.
The Monster 1200 also comes in an S variant with all of the added features that you would come to expect from a souped-up factory Ducati; namely fully adjustable Ohlins suspension and light-weight rims.
Bosch’s six-axis IMU works hard to manage all of the rider assists such as ABS, ride modes, traction control, and wheelie control making this bike very approachable and easy to manage despite its 1200cc mill.
The 2022 Ducati Monster 1200 / 1200S starts at $TBA USD / $24,595 CAD.

2022 Ducati Monster 1200 / 1200S Features
Design
The Monster 1200 has always been a symbol in the world of sporty naked bikes thanks to the details that make it unmistakable. In the S version, the Black on Black colour with matte and glossy black elements, enhances its sporty lines and character.
Performance
The powerful engine and full-bodied at every speed, the compact dimensions, the agile chassis and the world-class electronic equipment including Riding Modes, DTC, DWC, Cornering ABS and Ducati Quick Shift up/down, as standard on the S version, guarantee maximum riding enjoyment and, at the same time, maximum security.
Safety
The pre-set Riding Modes allow the rider to optimise bike behaviour depending on riding style. Each of the three Riding Modes (Sport, Touring and Urban), is programmed to act on the electronic Ride-by-Wire (RbW) engine control system and on the ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control intervention levels.
Maintenance
The cutting-edge materials and technologies of the Ducati Testastretta 11° DS ensure particularly long maintenance intervals. With an oil change required every 15,000 km or 12 months and valve clearance check every 30,000 km, the values are of absolute reference for its category.
