If the base-model Can-Am Ryker is Bombardier Recreational Products’ attempt to lure motorcyclists and car drivers into the three-wheeled world, the Rally Edition is where they attempt to convert casual enthusiasts into full-on devotees. The majority of the Ryker’s upgrades for 2022 went into this model; it offers superb performance for anyone who’s serious about riding a trike and having the time of their life on it.
There’s only one engine in the Rally Edition (unlike the choice between a 600cc or 900cc that you get with the basic Ryker). However, that engine happens to be a 900cc Rotax ACE triple-cylinder engine (made in Europe despite Can-Am being a North American company) that pumps out 82 horsepower and 58.5 lb-ft of torque—i.e., way more than enough for you to have a blast while blasting around a track or drifting over varied terrain in your local backwoods region.
Those upgrades we mentioned? They include a pre-filter for the air intake to keep debris out of important places, all-road tires for easier riding on a wider variety of surfaces, aluminum protection for the underbody, and upgrades to both the ground clearance and travel for the suspension system. This makes the seat a little higher up (28 inches instead of last year’s 24.2), but we’re guessing you won’t mind when it’s preventing bruises on your bottom.
The new Rally Edition is a fresh upgrade of the 2021 version, making it feel relevant and important in Can-Am’s 2022 model lineup. If you enjoy three-wheeled riding and want to do more of it in more places, this is an excellent option.
