2022 Aprilia Tuareg 660: Aprilia’s Middleweight Answer to “Going Anywhere”
Contents
Just when you thought Aprilia’s 2022 lineup couldn’t be more diverse, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer decided to drop a true middle-weight ADV bomb on the motorcycle industry in the form of the Aprilia Tuareg 660.
New for 2022, the Tuareg 660 is aimed at giving an Aprilia-based alternative in a busy middleweight ADV market built off of the success of their recent 660 platform that originated from the already successful RS 660.
The return of the highly anticipated Tuareg 660 comes in the form of a narrow-bodied and agile ADV model with long suspension travel and wide handlebars; the perfect bike for a true middleweight ADV experience.
Aprilia has modeled this new Tuareg 660 after their older Tuareg model and has cleverly adapted the vintage looks and translated them successfully to this new model; even incorporating full LED lighting into a face that belongs to a long-forgotten titan of the ADV industry.
Beyond the aesthetics, the Tuareg 660 features a 659cc forward-facing twin-cylinder engine borrowed from the RS 660 and has re-tuned the mill to produce a more off-road capable 80 horsepower and 51.6 lb-ft of torque.
The ride-by-wire throttle system gives opportunity for many computer assists such as cruise control, traction control, ABS, and four selectable riding modes that you can swap through depending on your on (or off) road riding conditions. A quickshifter system is also available as an addon.
As this is a “new” model for 2022, we will have to wait to see if we can get our hands on one for some rigorous testing to see if the new Tuareg can really stack up to the legendary name that it has already set out for itself.
The 2022 Aprilia Tuareg 660 starts at $11,999 USD / $14,595 CAD.
