GOTRAX is a very young company, having been founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2017. It is their mission statement, however, that has led them to have such an immediate impact in the eBike world. Their entire company is dedicated to creating eBikes that are not only easy to use, easy to ride, and durable, but are also affordable and desirable.

Aside from promotional prices that come and go, this is why their most expensive offering, the Traveler, is a tad over $1000USD. A variety of options with folding bikes, step through commuters, upper tube commuters, and even a folding off-road eBike allow the customer to choose the bike that suits them best.

With high quality construction, durability that speaks to excellent design and engineering, and dozens of top award reviews and ratings, it’s no wonder GOTRAX has shaken up the eBike market as much as they have.

GOTRAX Shift S1 Commuter e-Bike

The GOTRAX Shift S1 is designed from the start to be a commuter’s best friend. Foldable at two points to be ultra-compact for storage and charging while at work or class, the Shift is also extremely sturdy when set up to ride. With a 250 Watt motor and 36 Volt battery, the Shift has a cruising range of 15 miles with a 20 MPH top speed.

What is even better about the Shift S1 is that it has three selectable gears for varying speeds, as well as a pedal-assist mode, and a pure pedal mode. This ensures that you don’t go too fast or too slow in the bike lanes, and if you want a bit of a workout on the way home, pedal assist or just pedalling on your own helps keep you going.

The Shift S1 also features electric ABS, so you won’t skid if you need to suddenly brake. Portable, quick charging, and lightweight… everything a commuter bike should be!

GOTRAX Emerge Electric Bike 26”

The GOTRAX Emerge is designed for the inner-city commuter that also likes to have the benefits of a “regular bike.” At the heart of it all is a 36 volt, 7.5 ampHour battery that powers a 250 watt rear hub electric motor. In pedal assist mode, the Emerge has a great 26 mile range, and if you want the bike to take over, it still has 18 miles per charge!

Three speeds (9 MPH, 14 MPH, and 20 MPH) allow you to travel on electric power alone in comfort, and the pedal assist will help you reach 20 MPH without issue. The front suspension smooths out any bumps or cracks in bike lanes, and as the bike has a maximum top speed of 20 MPH, it is fully legal to ride on pathways in most states. You can even ride the bike on those miserable commutes when it rains, as all the electronics are IP54 waterproof.

Durable, easy to use, comfortable, and acts just like a normal bike if the battery ever runs out.

GOTRAX Endura Electric Bike 26”

The GOTRAX Endura is the best of two worlds, brought together into one eBike. Featuring a step-through design to make it easy to mount and dismount, the frame is rugged enough to handle gravel and dirt trails if needed. It will also just as easily ride in the bike lane as a commuter. This makes the Endura a seven-days-a-week bike!

Using a 250 W motor with the same 36 V, 7.5 aH battery that the Emerge uses, the electric assist on the Endura is geared much more heavily towards torque than overall speed. With a top electric speed of 15.5 MPH, and an electric assist up to 20 MPH, the power is delivered to help you get up hills, through steep terrain, or up the ramps of a parking garage to the bike racks without needing to sweat it out.

GOTRAX Alpha XL Electric Bike 29”

The GOTRAX Alpha XL lives up to its name. It’s the top of the line for the commuter bikes from GOTRAX, and features 29 inch wheels to ensure the most comfortable, worry free riding possible. Using the same battery as all the other models, the Alpha XL ups the power by using a 350 W rear hub motor, allowing for pure electric speeds of up to 20 MPH, with a range of 16.7 miles.

Should you opt for pedal assist, the motor will help you reach 20 MPH and keep you there for 26 miles, more than enough for a trip to and from work during the weekdays. The Alpha XL also features fast charging, being able to charge from 0 to 90% battery in 4 hours, and to 100% in 6 hours, all via a USB connection.

The ultimate commuter bike, the Alpha XL is an example of what modern electric bikes should be.

GOTRAX Traveler Electric Bike 29”

The GOTRAX Traveler might be marketed as a commuter bike, but the truth of it is in its name. This is a serious bike for serious miles. Using a 48 V, 10 aH battery in conjunction with a 500 W rear hub motor, you can get a serious 31 miles using pedal assist, and 20.5 miles on the electric motor alone. With a top speed of 20 MPH, the Traveler does qualify, barely, as being pathway legal in most states.

Where the Traveler shines, however, is the roadway bike path. This bike is meant to crush the bike lanes in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Miami, and all the other major centers of business where bike lanes exist.

The battery is also easily decoupled when you get to work or your destination, as it allows you to charge it up in your office while working, to have a full battery for the ride home!

GOTRAX EBE1 Folding Electric Bike 16”

The GOTRAX EBE1 is the latest and greatest of the folding bikes series, designed to fill the niche that the Shift S1 left open with its higher top speed and power. The EBE1 uses the 36 V, 7.5 aH battery that the Shift S1 does, but with a reworked 350 W rear hub motor that follows the same profile as the Endura. What this means is that you get a long-distance, torque-oriented folding bike that will get you over even the steepest hill in your city, and be able to travel 28 miles with pedal assist doing so.

The EBE1 also has a fully internal battery, which itself is IPX4 rated waterproof, with the surrounding frame of the bike being IP54 waterproof. This means, even folded and carried along in the rain, you won’t develop any shorts or issues with the battery swelling from water penetration.

The EBE1 also features a small shock absorber for the rear, making it much more comfortable for rougher roads.

GOTRAX EBE2 Commuter Electric Bike 26”

The GOTRAX EBE2 is a super performance bike, no questions asked. Reworked from the Alpha XL and Traveler bikes, the EBE2 uses a 36 V, 12.5 aH high capacity battery (HCB) combined with a 350 W rear hub motor to give a nigh unbelievable 50 miles per charge on pedal assist. When using just the hand throttle on electric only mode, the EBE2 will still reach 25 miles at 20 MPH.

And with its detachable battery, new design heads up information screen, and newly redesigned front suspension, the EBE2 is the bike for the long distance suburban commuter. It will get you there and back without issue, and the battery will charge to full from nearly empty in 6 hours or less.

This is the electric bike that just might make you park your car for weeks at a time, giving you an enjoyable, relaxing commute while also not getting stuck in gridlock traffic jams!

GOTRAX EBE4 Fat Tire Folding Electric Bike 20”

With the success of the Endura in handling light gravel and dirt, GOTRAX realized that there was demand for a proper, trail crushing, rock grinding electric bike, and so the EBE4 Fat Tire came to be. A 48 V, 10 aH HCB, with a 350 W rear hub motor, and 20 inch wheels with 2 inch wide front and back tires, the EBE4 will easily cruise at 20 MPH on either electric only throttle (25 miles) or pedal assist (50 miles).

However, it’s the 2 inch wide tires that are what this folding bike is all about. Commute during the weekdays, then on Saturday morning, after charging it overnight, toss it in the trunk of the car, head out to the trails, and go adventuring through gravel, dirt, even mud, thanks to the waterproof frame and battery of the bike!

This also means that if it does get all dusty and muddy, a quick spray down with a garden hose and some air drying time is all you need to get your little EBE4 back in shape for the Monday commute!
