The S 1000 XR is a high-performance sport touring motorcycle in the 2021 BMW line-up. Unlike BMW’s heavy-duty adventure tourers, the S 1000 XR is built on top of the same DNA as the sporty S 1000 RR. It shares many of the same components but reimagined into a middleweight adventure bike that can tackle rough roads with ease.
The heart of the S 1000 XR is a powerful European-made 999cc inline-four engine. The engine has been optimized for long-distance riding and practical use. The result is an output of 165 horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque. It’s a sport touring motorcycle with a heavy emphasis on the “sports” part of the name.
Standard features of the 2021 S 1000 XR include Dynamic ESA (electronic suspension adjustment), full LED lights, integrated pannier holders, under-seat storage, and a very cool toll card compartment on the tank. The S 1000 XR also features BMW Motorrad Riding Modes Pro technology. These riding modes include Hill Start Control, ABS Pro, and Dynamic Traction Control.
For 2021, the S 1000 XR is available in three color options. These include BMW’s traditional Racing Tricolor, Racing Red with White Aluminum Metallic Matte, and Ice Grey options.
